MealCast, LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the mealcast.ai website and application (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information.

Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and authentication credentials when you create an account via Google, Apple, or email sign-in.
  • Dietary Profile: Dietary restrictions, food allergies, strong dislikes, household size, cooking skill level, adventurousness, kitchen equipment, weekly budget, and maximum cook time.
  • Meal Preferences: Your swipe preferences, meal ratings, feedback, and cooking history.
  • Pantry Information: Items you mark as on-hand, staple items, and grocery order history.
  • Payment Information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: How you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and meal feedback patterns.
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and IP address.
  • Cookies: We use essential cookies for authentication and optional analytics cookies to improve the Service. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Information from Third Parties

  • Grocery Store Data: When you connect your Kroger account (or other supported grocery stores), we access product search, pricing, and cart functionality through their APIs. We do not access your full purchase history beyond orders placed through MealCast.
  • Authentication Providers: Basic profile information (name, email) from Google or Apple when you use social sign-in.

How We Use Your Information

  • Personalize Meal Plans: Your dietary profile, preferences, and feedback are used by our AI to generate personalized weekly meal plans.
  • Grocery Integration: Match ingredients to products at your preferred grocery store and populate your cart.
  • Improve the Service: Aggregate, anonymized usage data helps us improve plan quality and app features.
  • Pantry Management: Track what you have on hand to avoid redundant grocery orders.
  • Communications: Send plan notifications, meal reminders, and important service updates. You can opt out of non-essential communications.
  • Billing: Process subscription payments and manage your account.

How We Share Your Information

We never sell your personal data.

  • Grocery Partners: We share ingredient and product data with connected grocery store APIs (e.g., Kroger) solely to populate your cart. We do not share your dietary profile or health information with grocery partners.
  • Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services for hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase), payments (Stripe), and AI processing (Anthropic). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Anonymized Data: We may share anonymized, aggregated insights that cannot identify individual users.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

AI Processing

MealCast uses artificial intelligence to generate meal plans, recipes, and grocery lists. Your dietary profile and preferences are sent to the AI service to generate personalized results. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Data Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
  • Authentication tokens for grocery store connections are encrypted and stored securely.
  • We implement access controls, audit logging, and regular security reviews.
  • Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe (PCI DSS compliant).

Your Rights

  • Access your personal data in Settings.
  • Correct inaccurate data at any time.
  • Delete your account and all associated data. Deletion is completed within 30 days.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of non-essential communications and analytics cookies.
  • Disconnect grocery store accounts at any time.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Children’s Privacy

MealCast is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification.
